16 levels tune for several samples

hammered in the bassline with 16 levels and tune and I tried adding synths to a new track the same way. I choose the sample and hit 16 levels again and I'm playing the bass sample again.
Can I only use this feature once in a song, am I too stupid or is there a workaround like resampling or something? I tried rtfm and the forum search so far but couldn't find anything yet.
