1000-Pads dont work on main screen. Can anyone help please?

My pads have suddenly decided to stop working when I'm on the main screen and none of my tracks or songs are playing back. Theyre showing a signal, theres just no sound. Tried all the odvious stuff, but makes no sense to me whats the **** goin on. Has anyone else come across this?

I worked out that if I reset the mpc by holding erase when i turn it on it sorts the problem out, but ten mins later it messes up again. Would installing a new os be the answer to this?
