How hard do you hit your mpc pads?

Whats good everyone. I got a question. My friend came over to check out my 1k, and he hit the pads really hard. I wanted to know, could this mess up the pads right away, or am I fine. He only hit pads 1-4 really hard about 5 times each.

yeah he probally already destroyed the glue on the pads he hit , it dosnt take much. ( blue black both the same ) i would seriously try and take it back real quick to get a new one. hurry.

lol well u will find ur self hitting them harder and harder as time goes by if its new you shouldnt have to hit em that hard but once ur pads start wearing out u will hitting them hard is no problem it wont hurt the machine but it may wear the pads out faster you can bang on them w/o any worries tho so dont worry about u friend banging pads 5 times ur all good

The manual says to not hit them harder than 15 psi (pounds per square inch). Since the 1000 pads are approximately 1.5 square inches, then you should be ok hitting them up to 22.5 psi. Depending on the weight of your hand, and which fingers you use, this would equal a hand velocity of approximately 1-2 meters per second. Of course if you are at an altitude of above 5000 feet above sea level, that changes everything...

what's even funnier is that he probably wont look in the manual for that "info"!

hard enough that my hands look like this after a session....

i use a sledge hammer. im on my 37th 1k so far.

Before your haymaker connected? How could you watch him hit the 1k 20 times?

Easy, if you playing a chopped up sample into 4 pieces, and listen how he plays the beat hitting each pad in order , you actually know how many times he hit each pad. Duh

I hit the pads as softly as possible, since I'm rather RSI-prone.

i woulda hit him at 22.5 psi 5 times

and remember, if you press the Full Level button, you dont need to hit them hard because this automatically max's the pad's sensitivity no matter how hard you hit it
