Hello all,

I'm having problems with some of the sample I'm loading. I use MPC 187 to make programs. When I click on the pad in 187, on my laptop, all the samples seem fine. Unfortunately, when I load them into MPC1000, some of the samples have a clicking (distortion) sound a the end of the sample.

Is there a setting I need to change inside MPC1000?

Thanks.

I have noticed that too much decay can make a strange sound at the end of the sample if you are compressing the shit out of it.

I don't do anything, effects, to the samples, no compression, no filtering; just hard pans, so that I have kick and snare coming out of different outputs into protools.

All files are 16/44.1, mono. And I'll build the programs using MPC187? I wondering if that's my problem; maybe it's a buggy version (looking for an update).

But, to clarify, I play the samples in MPC187, they sound fine. I load them in MPC1000 and some (not all) of the sample play then end with a terrible clicking sound (mostly a double click at the end).

Thanks for all your feedback.

Take a peek in the trim screen on the MPC and check the end of the offending samples for any non-zero values; trim to a zero-crossing if necessary.

The only other thing I can think of right now is that you might need to adjust the master output level (can't remember which mode this is found in - pad 9 maybe?). You might be getting digital clipping because you're running the samples too high into the D/A on the output side. Lowering the master output level can help this.

I went into trim mode and checked every sample that was giving me problems. The strange thing was that in TRIM mode all the samples sound fine, no clicking sound at the end. But, when I'm in the main window and select the program, I then here the clicking noise.

I also tried to adjust the decay of each offending sample; it helped on some of the samples; but I'm afraid some of the samples are losing what I would consider valuable sound (that I'm taking out with the decay).

I'm now assuming that the program I'm using to make my drum programs (mpc187) is the problem. The samples are all fine; but for some reason the program file that is being created, corrupts some of the samples.

Any other thoughts, or maybe you all have a suggestion about another application that I can use to build programs (something MAC os x tiger friendly)

Thanks.
