Howdy all.
A few months ago my card reader broke and it was disheartening to see how many other people on this forum had the same problems.
Ive since fixed mine,....and i hope this might work for someone else.
basically, my MPC would freeze up if there was a flash card in the slot. it still worked ok off internal memory but otherwise, it was a paperweight.
i read that there werent any replacement parts around,... and so i was going out of my #$%^ mind.
so i pulled the thing apart and extracted the board that the footswitch/phones inputs and the cardreader are mounted on. I noticed that one side of the clamp that locks the ribbon cable to the back of the card reader wasnt fully pushed in. i undid the clamp, cleaned the contacts on the ribbon cabble and secured it back in place, and when i turned the thing on again it was working!!!
I hope this helps, let me know if you need more info.
