Ive been experimenting with 16 levels alot this week, Ive been using tune mode with 'note on' feature switched on, very cool to play with... but the only drawback is you cant hold down multiple pads? Perhaps there is a way past this... anyone encouter or notice this?

Why can't you hold down multiple pads?
I've used it for drums and bass in the past and I've done that quite a bit.

The sample you are tuning to 16 levels must be set to mono. Check and see if that's your problem. If it is, set it to poly and see what happens.

16 levels is jsut a taste of what it should be - autochromatic. it uses up your qlink data too.

try making entire pgms of the "16 levels" type. you'll find the control is much greater.

How is the sample changed from Mono to Stereo? Its not just the way its recorded is it? Can it be changed at anytime? I remember seeing it somewhere but cant seem to find it, I'll hit the manual in the meantime... :)

WOW. Ok, 16 is NICE! Coolest feature ive found yet on here... I went in and changed the sample around from mono to poly and it will kill the sample once you push another pad "overlapping" BUT... say i put the "note on" feature on... I hold down pad A1, while still holding I push A2 and that pad takes over (which it didnt before) When I release A1 and im still holding pad A2... it quits playing which makes things tricky... the sample im using only has a poly and mono feature, no stereo... should it? I hope this made sence...

if ur having problems with playing and holding 2 notes together the way i do it sense the mpc1000 has a problem doing is by playing first what i wanna do one pad at a time then the second time around ill add the other part to make the chords..as for what is 16 levels hehe read the manual and ull fall in love with mpc1000 agin.. its nothing fancy just turns 16 of ur pads into 1 keygroup.. theres 25 keys total that u can use with 16 levels.. ya akai should of added auto chromatic to the mpc1000 there smokn shit for not..playing with pads though takes time and practice but in the long run ull come out with somthin more exotic with pads than on keys
