MPC 1000 problems

yo sup people..
I recently purchased a brand new mpc1000 and I've made a few joints on it...but I ran in to some serious problemz.
Sometimes when I start making a beat and I have all my samples loaded and programmed, the mpc just begins playing samples all by it self..I really don't know what the deal is...also when I try to switch a program in the mainscreen, it refuses and I'll have to hit mode-program first and switch it there and go back to mainscreen.
and I got another problem...when my mpc starts doing all this f*cked up shit it automatically plays a sample when I press the note tap button whitout pressing a pad I really dont why it's acting like that I thought maybe ya'll have some experience with these problems..

Check which operating system your unit is running from the MODE + OTHER page. It may need an upgrade and reset.

I checked it out and I have the version 2.10 20-jan-2006

Yep, that's the latest from Akai. It has problems, but it shouldn't be that bad. Try a default reset (power on while holding ERASE). If that doesn't clear it up, you've probably got a hardware issue and if it's a new unit you should probably return it for exchange/refund or factory service.

oke so I should reset it...The problems didn't act up at first only sometimes but the last few days it has been doing it every time I try to make a beat...But thnx for your help I'm gonna try resetting it and if it doesn't work I'll have to send it back to akai

that sounds like internal problems

you mean hardware?

try plugging the unit into a different power oulet..... random electrical fluctuations and line noise can make hardware do weird things, random stuff, which could result in the type of behavior you described....
