missing MPC1000 features

no delay in the fx sections ?!? a delayed sync-ed to bpm would seal the deal on the otherwise excellent fx section - surely if they have the CPU to do a decent verb they could do delays?

also if the Q-link could be attached to fx levels in the main menu you could do dub stuff... could be lovely!

we should pester Akai to see if these are possible

would be nice if:
mpc could have more than 24 prgs, I´d prefer 128 prgs, which would turn the mpc 128 timbral:-) or you would need a drumslot 1-24 as the drumslots 1-4 on the 2000xl.

It is not in the CPU. Effects are in a separate LSI circuit. Delay algorhythms are not quite the same as a reverb. Delay requires a much larger amount of RAM onboard the LSI than reverbs. This is quite expensive. That could explain another cost cut to keep the price low.

I guess that must be true because I can't see why it wouldn't be there otherwise, its a shame as even a really low quality delay would be better than nothing.

I'd definitely prefer some way of having drumslots in which the programs reside. I guess it makes it more complicated to use, but it also opens up different dimensions of what you can do with it in performance

Hey guys, I'm new to the Mpc's but, after lot's of research, decided to make the 1000 my first one. One question- Should I get that 128 Expansion Ram for it? Thank you in advance.

The RAM upgrade is one of the first thing you should do, if you are planning to use long samples. But if you are new to MPC, I recomend you to start with the 16MB and then as you get familiar with the machine and feel the need for more RAM, you can add the extra RAM.

Does the 1000 have timestrech[were you can see and edit the sample] like the XL and the pitchshift for that chipmunk style producing ya feel what I'm sayin? If so I might just stay with the 1000. I thought someone on this site said that it didn't have the timestrech feature but then they found it in a different section in the 1000. Holla at cha boy and let me know what's real!

No timestretch on the 1000...you're probably thinking about the thread on time shifting.

What other valuable features are on the XL that you wish were on the 1000? No timestretch on the 1000. Do you feel it should have that even though it has a USB connection for a software program that has that feature?

yo rich check it, i was just robbed for my 2000, my roland keys, and pc. i'm ready to start buying to rebuild but the pocket is lite. do u suggest i save up for the 4000 , get a 2000xl use with my s3000 or the 1000 and a bunch of syth mods. help me make this decision please i'm going crazy. seem like you no your ****. the 2000 was my first and only one.

that's horrible man and i'm sorry to hear it, its sickening when gear gets ripped - especially if you lose discs, tunes, sounds with it

but I can't answer the question as it depends totally on how you work and what you need. If you can make do with 4 outputs I'd think the 1000 plus your sampler and a cheap PC would be very powerful - if you really want to replace a lot of PC editing stuff the 4000 (u can sell your other sampler) will be the shit - but expensive

figure out exactly how you want to work before deciding is my best advice

the 4000 is my first way to go i guess ill be putting the s-3000 up for sale with everything else the mac for mesa programming zip drive and the hard drive i have but yet to install any takers get at me

then get a white ex-demo one, cheap as chips at the moment, at least in the UK, and I reckon the blue ones will look shiiiite and cost more!

seriously its an amazing studio machine, very complex compared with the others but u can do one heck of a lot with it and it sounds terrific

remember i'm the guy that got robbed... ok the didnt take my 2000's external harddrive. how would i get those files into the mpc 1000, being a pc cant read the drive. is there a s/w for this scenerio?
