..Question about ram...

Aight, I read that post about the ram upgrade for the 1000 and all that. But Im not sure I COMPLETELY undastand....okay...

1. Do you need to buy any type of adapter to install tha ram like you do wit' tha hard drive? 'Cause Im HELLA low on cash...

2. What can you do wit' tha 128mb ram that you cant wit' tha 16, I kinda undastand but just not entirely..so if somebody could help it'd be much appreciated...

1. There is no adapter required. youtube "MPC1000 ram install" or something to that effect to see video of just how easy it is...

2. The internal RAM determines how much sampling time the MPC is capable of. When you are in RECORD mode, the audio input is saved to the internal RAM; with the upgrade you can create very long samples (24 minutes in mono, 12 minutes in stereo). The amount of samples you can get loaded into the internal memory also increases, so you can create larger PROGRAMS and load more of them.

Basically, increasing the RAM will allow you to do more with the MPC before
you run out of memory and have to start juggling space between the RAM, CF cards, and the PC.

Well young man... let me explain...

1. No adapter needed, if there was it would of been mentioned in the RAM and CF Thread.

2. 128MB RAM is need for the following reasons

more sample time
load more programs more sounds
great for resampling or recording your finished track
some more others other people can tell you

Though if you used the search you would of found all these things anyway.

im waiting on my ram...i got it from some dude on ebay, for $50...

if you dont know why you need more ram then you dont need the mpc, go with a boss 404 or somthing like that. i had my 1000 for 2 days and had been limited at least 4 times with memory.

404 actually has a LOT more "ram" than the mpc does. you can hold waaaaaaay more than 20 minutes of sampling time in the 404 properly loaded...
