pads

pad issues?

I just bought a new MPC 1000 used. obviously sensitivity is not perfect on all pads, but i am hearing a lot of negative feedback about this units pads. Did i make a mistake buying or is this a personal issue?

Some people have had trouble with their pads. It's hard to say what percentage of 1000 users have had trouble since we really only see posts about bad pads... no one starts threads called "I have no problems with my pads". Personally, I haven't had any problems, and I have had my 1000 for almost 2 years, but I think that a lot of people on this forum probably put a lot more hours on their machines than I do, especially lately.

Did you make a mistake buying a 1000? No way man. The 1000 is a great machine, I wouldn't regret buying mine even if I had problems with my pads. You can always replace the pads... supposedly the newer batches of pads are a little better, but I can't confirm that personally.

I've had no problems what so ever... 1k is great... I travel with it (I'm in the military... in the desert... it's been boxed up on a pallet... (130s) and and sat in cargo holds (-10) its really holding up really well... Im like... d@mn how hard you got to hard ya'll pads to feel ya'll music... (I don't own a XL or the two5...) so I have know idea why you have to bang on the machine like a drum... are ya'll using mallets? LOL I mean... I do hit my pads hard for feel... but ya'll must got some bear claws... RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOUR 1k works...

Mine works fine. I was wondering if you have to turn up the sensitivity so you don't have to bang them. Maybe that is the way to go... then you can save on the new pads... I just played with assigning sounds to all the pads... some seem more sensitive than other but I can't tell if that's the sample or the adjustment on any given pad.

At what sensitivity are the pads shipped? Minimum?

I had a 2k XL and the feel of the pads was first rate without a doubt... but these are not chopped liver.... yet.

you can change the sensitivity for each pad. i did this inadvertently and thought one of my pads was dying until i realized this. i wonder if a lot of other people do the same thing and never realize there's nothing wrong with their pads....

you know what i've had problems but it was always my fault my 1k was my first mp and i didnt know you didnt have to HIT the damn things so hard i no a few people who havent had any issues with there's

today i used the black 1k and it felt alot better than the og one..the sensetivity was amazing..i remember using the red and blue one at guitar center and having to pound the hell out of it just to get it to play soft...with this new one barely tapped it.and it was nice and responsive

I have a blk 1000 and I dont have any problems with my pads but I could see them not working in the future.However, my down and right cursor buttons are going out, I guess you get what you pay for.

according to a valuable contact, if i am not mistaking his words, newer mpc1000s will not have the same problem as the original ones did...initially. however, unless they really changed the design from the 4 glue dots they used in my mpc, the newer mpcs will give out in time too

the most unfortunate thing about this is that the design itself, whle not as good as interlink FSRs ala all other mpcs, could work if it was done right.

also, it's not an issue of people "hitting their pads too hard" it's an issue of akai not having put the same technology into this mpc and NOT making this public.
