why the pads break?

im really wanting to buy an MPC 1000 and i was set on it until recently when i read all the sh*t about the pads on it. They suck, right? Some people don't see anything wrong with them, but for some of you its a serious problem. I know it's apparently the glue thats sh*t, but how hard do you have to punch the pads for them to "break"? Is this thru proper punching out beats or just general use?
Surely the design can't be that cheap that they break that easily......or can it?

i've had mine (blue & red model) for years and the pads all still work 100%.

Same here. The pads are definitely not of the same quality and responsiveness as the other MPCs, but I have not experienced any outright failure.

use it 1 hour a day for 3 years

had mine since they first came out my pads are still perfect

originally wanted the 500 but ssince the 1000 is also portable was thinking about it, until read about the pads.

have a blue one and the pads are still very good, but if they
break i don t mind changing them as i am very satisfied with the
mpc 1000 it s the one of themost perfect drummachine / sampler i ve ever got, as it is very portable and pimped by jj os,
with all the mpc 1000 user on earth it s only a question of time
we see a third party industrie reproducing a better? pads set.

so would you people recommend the 1000 for my first MPC?
i just want to be sure before i fork out the £600+ cuz that's a hell of a lot of money for me.
I've read loads of reviews of people saying it's good for the money, but you get what you payed for really, meaning it's pretty cheap. Maybe compared to the other MPCs, but i'd imagine these are people who can afford to pay £KKKK for their gear. Like i said, I'm a 17 year old student paying for it out of my own pocket...
Also, i know people say that the 1000 isn't of the same quality as the other models, but as i've never used an MPC before then that's not really gunna make any difference to me, is it?

the mpc 1000 is great machine. except for his pads quality (cheaper than any other model (and even if i haven experienced any problems so far)).
the mpc is fine and solid.

depends on how you are gonna use your pads. some ppl break its during their first years. others are okey. some just got one pad down... but most users agree on the overall build quality of the mpc 1 k pads, it doesnt match the quality of other models....

the ratio price/quality/features is unbeattable.
at this price you wont find any other machine wich such capacities.

BUT you should also consider :

software + mpd 24, for the same price range, this is a deadly combo...

In light of taking a slight positive view for 2007, i would say buy it, try it, if it works...keep it, work with it and pay it off - then forget about mpc's until it breaks, or just buy a new one.

Seriously, forget all the horror stories about the pads breaking, and make it work.

When you buy it, make sure you deal with a reputable place and that they take faulty items back for exchange / refund.

they should patent the business strategy, so whenever another company releases a product that breaks and/or is poorly coded, akai can sue their pants off!
