I got hold of this bad boy on Friday, Its ill! no doubt, worth selling my loaded mpc2k for. Nice sound, great look and feel.
Its the perfect size cant beat it.

I got the call from GC on friday, "get you butt down here, I only have 2, one is on the display and the other has your name on it!"

I was there, snatched it up and the rest is history i guess.

one thing that gets me is the data wheel, Its missing that little toggle, to change an area of the wave (when in edit) you are just spinning the wheel for like an hour trying to get to the section on the number of the edit point. from what I can tell there is no way to work around this.
I love it though, they did a great job on this, the EFX are plentiful and you can use what looks like only 2 at any given time, but the EFX do seem to sound better than the EB16.

I was really looking forward to buying the mem upgrade for it and max the thing out, but GC didn't have it in stock.

its odd having the demos load up right away. never had demo sounds in an MPC before.

First impression, 9.5 out of 10 I would like to have a few little things on it, toggle wheel, tilt screen, more outs, timestretch... things like that, like the rest of you. I'm sure they had to get rid of it for cost reasons. But, still very impressed. it works great, no errors/crashes so far.

Used it in a set Friday night and all the cats wanted to see it in action. :D

Got mine today!!!! Sounds like the 3000,Smooth,punchy,plus the Fx and the usb is a bonus.

Not sure if you cats noticed but you can use High Pass and Low Pass which makes it so much easier for cleaning your shit up.

The feel is better and back to the sound of the machine (all i can say is)

Well Done Akai (all is fogiven on the Mpc4000)

there is a better way! what you have to do is hold shift and then the cursor keys marked digit. this allows you to select the numbers in the start and end field by digit. So if your sample start time is say 13000 and you want it to start at 23000 instead of scrolling for hours just hit shift, the <digit button 5 times to get over to the "1" then turn the dial once to 2 and you will fly through the waveform. buttery.

so far, I really like the 1000. feels good. resampling with effects and resampling your sequences is bonkers. normalizing is great and happens fast.

i did have two crashes though, which does have me a little nervous. both came after chopping up a drum loop into about 6 chops. then scrolling through the samples on the trim page led to both a freeeze, then a screen with weird numbers and letters on it and a freeze. after, when attempting to reproduce this error I couldn't...but the graphics for the "Extract" function where gone? weird, the ones for "normalize" and "discard" where there. i powered down and all was well....going to work on it more tonight.

I'm going to download the newest OS tonight as well and hopefully that will take care of it(I know it says it is for the slider, but I bet there are other fixes in there...hopefully). I really like this machine and don't want to have to return it....but I won't put up with waiting for OS fixes like the 4K cats have had to.

one thing...I can't believe that with all the power in the 1000 you can't reverse a sample. Its not a huge deal...but you can resample with effects, normalize, resample a sequence to one pad and not reverse a sample? its just odd.
