Fo' reel cuz yo MPC 1000 is trippin? MaAn please tell me it ain't so. I'm waitin for my GC to call me anyday now to go pick up the MPC 1000 that I've had pre-ordered since Sept./Oct. sometime everybody is sayin they like it but I hear ur havin some problems. Mmmm.... not good not what I want to hear. I hope the MPC 1000 doesn't end up like the MPC 4000! DaMn I hope I did waste almost a G for this mutha f!cka and it has bugs from hell. Since AKAI was takin so long to ship out the MPC 1000 I was side tracked and started to look at the New Blue MPC 2000 XL. If my MPC 1000 f!cks up on me I will take that b!tch back and order the New Blue MPC 2000 XL no joke. Did anything else happen? So u takin your MPC 1000 back? Holla at cha boy and let me know what's real Thanks!

I think the 1000 has an O/S upgrade available already. Did you already load that into your machine?

Wooo.....Wooo....... I understand u mad but try it out again and see if it crushes again. Maybe it was to much goin on or somethin and just like everybody's PC when u click on s!it a 1,000,000 times and to much is goin on it crashes? Don't break da mutha f!cka cuz then u can't take it back! Read the manual and make sure u where doin everything right and if it happens again then I probably would take it back but it's hard huh that b!tch is off da hook huh! Did u have any other problems with your 1k beside what already happened? Holla at cha boy and let me know what's real Thanks!

I don't have the 1K.......

i did have two crashes though, which does have me a little nervous. both came after chopping up a drum loop into about 6 chops. then scrolling through the samples on the trim page led to both a freeeze, then a screen with weird numbers and letters on it and a freeze. after, when attempting to reproduce this error I couldn't...but the graphics for the "Extract" function where gone? weird, the ones for "normalize" and "discard" where there. i powered down and all was well....going to work on it more tonight.
I'm going to download the newest OS tonight as well and hopefully that will take care of it(I know it says it is for the slider, but I bet there are other fixes in there...hopefully). I really like this machine and don't want to have to return it....but I won't put up with waiting for OS fixes like the 4K cats have had to. "

This is why I never buy anything expensive when it first comes out, I wait till they perfect the bugz... I'm not rich so I'm not gonna fork over any dollars till it's in tip top form...

and my thoughts,
ain't it funny how this machine came out right before Christmas??? points to ponder. I was skeptical about this machine when I first heard about it because of the 4000. How can you make a machine(400) with so much potential and release the bastard without everything working? Akai is in it strictly for the cash.

When somethings new, its bound to have problems.
i aint no MPC expert, but i do know that new things have bugs.
when i first bought my Roland XV 5050 it had issues.
My G4 MAC Dual 1.25 had issues.
My Logic 6 Platinum has crashes.
But if the thing crashes every 5 seconds then give it back.
but remember...dont try to challenge the 1000...just because you have had other mpc's.
Ime sure its a little problem.

Many people on this site were (and still are) hungry for the 1000. I don't understand why when the 2000 is still a far better unit. You need to understand that those of you that are just getting these units are getting them fresh off the assembly line.
They WILL have problems of one sort of another. This is why you usually wait until a few months into the production cycles before committing yourself to purchasing the unit. From what we have heard, heat dissipation is the main problem right now. For those of you that have one, you should note right off the bat that there is no active ventilation or cooling systems. There are only heat sinks and heat spreaders in the unit.
Once the integrated circuits reach their temperature threshold, they will just stop working. A good number of you need to reconsider your gear lust and think...oh well, with everyone copping 1000s now, those who want 2000s will be getting crazy deals.
Think about it.
Peace.

getting a good deal and getting what you actually want is different.
1000 and 2000 are different.
they both have ups and downs.
i would cop a 1000 anyday.
the timing is tighter on the 1000 and i have heard this for my self.
i also had a another friend listening in and he also noted that the 1000 was tighter for drums.
the 2000 / XL is only gonna get cheaper because it was no UNIQUE model.
the Legenday model was and still is the 3000.
Its like Pioneer CD Decks - they have the 1000's and also the 800's.
the 1000 is the known one, the deck that made it!!!
thats why the 800 model is getting cheaper and cheaper.
you see...ime just waiting for a 1000 thats 90% decent, and ime sold.
its small and its nice for the guy who already has a dope DAW setup, but just needs a nice drum machine, without thinking its a cash machine.
