Bluebox Problems

Hi. i've been dowloading a lot of samples (in wav format) from the web. I did this in order to force myself to try out bluebox.

It seems fairly easy to understand, except that :-

1, Some files do not play in bluebox's browser (i get the message 'invalid parameter was passed to the returning function') and if i try to assign these files to a pad, bluebox crashes. (All files play fine in Audacity)


2, When I transfer a saved program over to the mpc, the program and samples appear, but when loaded up the program is there, but all the samples are with question marks, and when i try to load them individually into the program, i get a 'wrong file!!!' message from the mpc.



if anyone can shed any light on what i'm doing wrong, it would be greatly appreciated. Bluebox looks like a great way to save time - provided the damn thing works properly!

whats bluebox, it just makes programs for ur mpc, i downloaded it and messed around with it for a while i just never use it

Are all your samples 44.1, 16bit uncompressed? If not, that's your answer.

it seems like if i put a sample through audacity and then run it as a wav ( even though i downloaded ot as a wav anyway) its ok. its only when i try to put together a program thru bluebox that i have a problem.
in fact, i reject bluebox, i'm gonna arrange my programs the slow way, at least i know they'll end up where i put 'em.

BlueBox is quite buggy... and some of the bugs are very weird. Lately I loaded an AKP file generated by ReCycle. Bluebox converted it to a PGM just fine, except that the velocities were all at 156 That's quite a feat, considering you can't even set it over 100 on the MPC.

It's too bad that the guy has obviously abandoned the thing. Maybe someone can take over his work?

1. yes, check that samples are in 16bit 44.1kHz.

If they're not, the mpc isn't gonna play them anyway, so the fact that Audition opens them is irrelevant.

2. you need to copy the .pgm file and all the relevant .wav files into the same directory on the flash card. the program file doesn't store the wav files inside itself. again, thats just how the mpc works.

another tip:: if the filenames are too long and begin the same
(like reallyloooooongfilename00001.wav and reallyloooooongfilename00002.wav) the mpc may get confused telling them apart.

I use bluebox to get programs ready for shows and it saves tons of time, believe me.

I've had the same thing happen and man did they sound like shit at 156
