harddrive install problem - front plate wont come off

this topic has probably already been addressed but i couldnt find it and
i really want to get this harddrive in, so...

can anyone tell me why the screw on the front panel next to the flash memory drive wont come out? i am discombobulated

i turned the screw to the left and it turns but it doesnt move anywhere.
i thought maybe the screw was just long but like five minutes later still nothing.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like a mangled thread.

unscrew the screws on the bottom first and then set the mpc rightside up, overhanging the edge of a table.

then use one hand to pull the plate from the bottom, maybe using your fingernails as extra leverage, gently pulling the faceplate toward you while simultaneously unscrewing the front panel faceplate.

the pull from your hand should give the screw enough encouragement that it will come out.

put in a 60gig hitachi harddrive
i would like to go a little larger but its the best i could swing on a shoe string budget
