Hi,my bussiness partner and I just got an MPC-1000,however we would like to upgrade the ram memory,so here is the question,do we need to buy an overpriced akai aproved ram or is there any cheaper solution? And about fitting it,is that as easy to do like with a computer,or we need a akai technician to do that? Thanks

Well at this point my friend, it looks like getting the akai ram is the only option. There are some previous posts that talk about this. Maybe somebody will find the right sodimm, it's out there.

Well people on this list have tryed 133 bus, and 100 bus ram with no luck. But here is the deal , last night I put in 66 bus 64 stick of ram and it worked, But for only 32 megs of ram. Weird part is even when I dropped in my 128 stick of ram it only counted 64 megs before it failed test 4 on the ram test feature. Best advise, buy it from akai. You can call the tech support line and get a number from them.

so is this thing using proprietary ram??

Akai makes the ram for 1000, but its not proprietary from what a tech from akai told me.

the local gc here dont have the memory and from the sound of it they dont know that you can t go out and use mem from pc.

do we have anyone with a definite answer? i looked through the akaipro site and it has no info on this.

Nobody here has found PC memory that works without some type of hickups. There are a couple of cats trying different RAMS and have generally been pretty good about posting results.

So far, AKAI is the only way to go but you should keep checking here to see what Richard and others post.
