first off, I highly reccomend you download the JJ os, chopping is like, tenfold easier with this, plus there's a lotta other shit in there that's useful. but anyways, just go to chop, select how many pieces you wanna chop into, and boom you got your slices. if you just go through the manual it's probably a lot more extensive...just take a look for yourself. chopping on the mpc is really easy, just use your ears my man and you're on your way. hope I was of some help, peace

make each note or transient its own file and then reprogram those chops as close to the original in increments of 1/96

ALL of that comes with time, patience, practice, trial and error. You aint gonna "get ill" in one week, not even 2. There's NO "auto-experience" button on any mpc.

im not using jj os and the way i chop is get the loop you like then go to the trim page and slice it, now 9 times out of 10 you wont get it to chop exactly so then you will have to edit each slice to your liking, but like lamp dog said time will get you where you wanna be!

take your sample....chop up each note...or Section of notes (with the starting note you'd prefer at start of sample)...

lay them out to each pad...so that you can hit that specific note you prefer on the start of each sample...of each pad....

first i like to drop down a drum beat...that way i have a beat refference to go by....

i then practice around for about 10 min's with the samples...layed out between the 16 pads...see which ones go better in tune and melody...

shit will come together before you know it...
