Has anyone bought any compact flash cards for their 1000? I bought a Sandisk 128 CF ($44.99 - $15 rebate) from Best Buy but it didn't work, so I took it back and exchanged it for a FujiFilm 128MB CF ($59.99 - $20 rebate) that woked, after reading one of the posts here. The people at Best Buy didn't know the difference btw. a Type 1 & Type 2. Anyone know of any cheaper deals or other brand names that work? I saw a PNY Technologies CF that was a lot cheaper, but didn't get a chance to try it out.

in general which one carries more memory. a flash card or a zip drive.

I know the 1k doesnt use zip disk but im just wondering does a flash card hold as much memory as a zip disk. I got a lot of my sounds on a zip disk which im going to transfer to a PC and drop it all on my flash card. just wondering, which one takes the most memory.

With some flash cards, Type I, you need an adapter to make it Type II, which brings me back to my question, is the only type II format card the Magicstor with 2.2 GB? I read on these posts that they have found type II cards, but I am having a difficult time finding them. Thanks.

The manual says nothing about either type 1 or 2 cards. And says it supports up to 2 gigs.

One of the support guys from akai just e-mailed me yesterday & said the MPC1000 uses type II CF cards ( I think someone said this in a previous post). He said they are the thicker ones. Over at Akai he said they use the Fuji 128 MB CF cards that they got from BestBuy & they work fine. Also if you guys have any problems with your 1000 (crashes, bugs, etc.) don't hesistate to e-mail akai with your problem. I had mine crash while I was trimming a sample so I emailed them with the problem & they got back with me in 3 days. I told him a few other people on this forum had the same problem & the support guy said he checked the forums here & didn't see any posts concerning crashes, so I cut & pasted some of your complaints into my e-mail. He said they are looking into the problem. I guess we'll know for sure when they come up with another OS update.
