Akai stop shipping the MPC 1000 until Jan.

Can anyone confirm that it's true?

zzounds website has "More expected 01/03/04". They have had this projected date for a while, probably a couple weeks. Given that the holidays are upon us, the pause in shipping doesn't seem related to the recent bug reports. Suspension of service is normal around this time of year with employees on vacation.

My local Guitar Center said that they weren't expecting to get another shipment in until March and currently supplies are extremely limited. -g

Back to the old delivery schedule of waiting months between shipments already? I trust Guitar Center's projection more than zzounds. The MPC1000 was in such short supply this Christmas it makes one think the company purposely had a limited production run for one reason or another.

That does not make any sense. A company would purposely not sell units and not collect the money? Doesn't quite fit into the corporate greed model that the Liberals feed us.

On the contrary, it makes perfect sense. Instead of the old AKAI with plentiful supply, we're seeing the scaled down corporate fear model. Too bad their own fear cost them Christmas sales.

Regardless, there is no pause in shipping. Just because one store says `more expected xxxxx date` just means that they have already pre-sold all deliveries up until that date. Come on folks, we have already covered this before. It's in the archives.

True!

My GC stated they'd have some in soon. But they say they are just popular and in some places they are hard to get.

I know they have something like 25 more in-stock at mucisiansFriend last I spoke to a sales rep.

Still no 128 mem info.

I think the deal is that some areas of the US will have them and some wont at first. some GC's will have more of a demand than others.
