F5 Slice Option?

What's up,

I'm new to the MPC1000, only had it over a week now and i've gotta lot of questions to be answered...but...i'm still reading the manual.

One problem i've had though is i've got no sign of the F5 Slice option??

I've seen it on video's etc but it's not on my MPC and there's nothing to do with it in the manual? I've been gettin samples off the PC onto the Memory Card, then when the sample is loaded up, this option isn't available.

If anyone can help i'd appreciate it.

if you've seen a video on it, then it can be done using the akai 2.1 OS. you don't have to use the JJ OS to get the slice feature. what version os are you running? you can find out by hitting mode then misc/other pad

OK, i've just found it's Version 1.07 (i'm guessing that's old!?)

I know i've just been told to go to the OS JJ section but if anyone can give me a run down on the best way to do this once again, i'd appreictae it.

i'm not trying to steer you away from the JJ OS. a lot of people on here sing its' praises but you have to pay for the newest JJ OS. you can get done (the slice feature) what you want with the free akai 2.1 OS. it's up to you.

Even the free 3.06 JJ OS has huge advantages over the akai os, just check it out

Is there a way I can update via the CF Card?

I've got the MPC connected through a Edirol UA-1EX soundcard and it doesn't seem to pick up the MPC?

Downloaded OS Version 2.10 but can't get it to update the MPC.

I'm not gonna have to go out again and buy another cable am I? I'll need a USB Cable A to B next.

u need to get the latest version off the akaipro.com website.(if u want the akai one first.

put the '.bin' file as it is on your cf card, load the cf card into your mpc. power on your mpc holding the 'window' button, when it finds the update - it prompts u to hit 'rec' to upgrade ...just follow the prompts, then u should be done.
