Finished work and got a call from the local music store. Finally in! Been waiting for nearly 2mnths. Anyway, I got the mpc and also the mpc gig bag which was nice. Thought I would post up a quick review for those interested in buying one.
BUILD: It feels heavy and solid, buttons are nice with no play, everything feels well built.
SOUND: Well its my first mpc so I have nothing to compare it too, but sounds very nice to me. I sampled some acoustic guitar and it sounded very clean.
EFX: The efx are very good! Tweakable and sound good on different types of samples.
SPEED: Loads and saves samples and programs fast!
So far I skimmed briefly through the manual for a basic overview and then started making stuff. I deleted all the preset sounds and programs and started with a clean slate. Now for the good stuff I found.
1. It can sample when a sequence is playing. This is something I have wanted for a long time in a sampler. He he...awesome for laying down guitar or bass as a sample. The sequence doesn't hiccup or stutter at all.
2. No bugs found so far! Everything has worked exactly as the manual described it. I have sliced and diced samples and stuffed around and no problems. (I got mine in Japan)
3. Track mute and 16 levels works excellent. You could play this thing live very easily. I have an sp-808ex as well, so with a combination of this and the 808 and a couple of synths you could bash out a live set no problem.
4. The screen is very big (larger than the 2000xl) and easy to read. Only pity is it cannot tilt.
So far I have been nothing short of astounded, I waited a long time for this and haven't been dissapointed. Played it for about 5hrs, but now my fingers are starting to hurt!
Anyway for anyone thinking of buying this, then go for it. It is so much nicer than using a computer.....time to get back to work
