device id number on mpc 1000

I just bought a roland juno and iam trying to hook that up with the mpc 1000 so i can sequence on the mpc and just play out my melodies on the juno but once i try to record the sound holds longer then it normally would sometimes the mpc and the keyboard stops iam having a hard time with the midi i read in the manual that make sure that the device id number match each other with the mpc and keybord how would i find this on the mpc

Tip: Shut off the MPC soft thru function.

BTW--

Unless you are programming that Juno with SYSEX, you don't need a device ID number.
