Internal HardDrive is a bit much

I bought the 40GB internal harddrive for my 1000. It is handy because I converted all of my mp3 files to wav files and put them into folders on the drive, so it somewhat eliminates the need for a laptop. However since I use Acid Pro and Reason to chop samples anyway its sort of overkill. It is handy to have like 30GB of wav files right there inside your MPC, but for the 100 bucks I spent it would be wiser to purchase like 5 or more 1G flash cards. My two pesos.

a lot of people here are getting 100gb hard drives for under 100 bucks i think you might have overpaid for your 30-40gb.

Probably. I suppose with them being cheap nowadays maybe its worth it...

Don't feel bad.... I upgraded the ram and put a 100gb hard drive in mine, and haven't done a damn thing with it.... every sample I try to load sounds like it's being played 100 times too fast... tried audacity, and a batch program for resampling/converting my samples (and YES I'm sure I've set the sample rates correctly).... I'm sure it's an error I'm making on my end... but nonetheless... I've yet to set up a single custom program of sounds for a beat.

in a lot of cases it just more a want bases than a need. i just got my MPC1K 3 days ago and that same day i purchased the 100GB hdd 2x 512MB cf cards, an HDM10 adapter, and 256MB ram. i might need it in 2 months or so when i learn how to fully use the mpc. but it deffinantly wasnt a must to get all those things wheni was first starting.

if i had the money, id get even bigger HDD. from what i understand that max hdd capacity is 130gb. do i need it? probably not, but we all want more then we need. its the human way...

yep, unfortunately CF Cards are unstable. but they can also be a life saver.

yeah i put a 40 gig into my mpc and honestly i can never see myself using more than 10
might sell the 40 gig and buy a 10

if this is a stand alone unit I think a 40gb HD is good for working with files and creating copies of wave files if you don't want to destroy the original.

other than that, it might be a waste having a huge drive.

Since I am a waster, I have a 120gb HD...

Buying a hard drive is cheaper and more convenient than having 5 1 gig cards. The card reader is cheap too, so all that swapping will cost you in the long run when you need a new reader. I have a 60 gig hard drive and a 512 mb card. I only used up 13 gigs on the hard drive.
