Why and Why?

Why is the 1000 so inexpensive?
I just cant stop thinking about the 1000, there is something about this little box that i cant figure out. It looks to me the 1000 is a really good product, a hot one! i would say better than the XL period, but yet the XL is more expensive, that i dont get!

can somebody please shed some light on this.

Probably has something to do with the cost of the parts used + cost of labour..

Also stores don't want to sell cheaper than the price they've paid, so it may come down once they've gotten rid of the existing stock.

And you have to keep in mind that a lot of manufacturers sell brand new gear without any profit just to establish a wide userbase.

These are just my thoughts tho', i might be horribly wrong..

don't forget about the new 2000xl that is in blue...

they may just be 2 different boxes. They do different things. like you said "quality" also, do any of us know what all is missing from the OS.

For everything that you people consider `missing` from the MPC1000, I can name two things that the MPC1000 has that the MPC2k does not:

expandable to 144Meg
Resampling
24 part multitimbral
built-in effects

Nothing is missing from the OS. It's not like selling a car that is `missing` an engine. While much of the layout is borrowed from the MPC2000, the hardware is completely different.

This is exactly what i'm talking about, the hardware being totally different, i mean you know how the mpc2000xl borrows from the s2000, i was wondering if you could give us an idea on how the 1000 hardware is built.

Everybody was saying the GUI layout is the same and that's cool, but dont confuse that with the hardware being the same cuz its NOT!

Ya know, one thing I noticed btw 2XL & 1000 is the lacking in "Zones" in 1000...I miss that, alot. But "extract" in the 1000 is sweet, keep the loop, but add a hi hat, or snare or whatever, very nice. Maybe this makes up for the missing "Zone" function.
