i just got mpc 1000 and am new to using mpcs. I am trying to drop long samples (2 0r 3 seconds) into the mpc. I have found this fine except when i try and trigger it with the pads. When i do this it only plays sample as a short hit. Is there a way the pads can sustain the noise for longer or another way to play loops which i'm missing. Like i said i'm new to mpcs so this question may sound kind of basic.

go into to trim, get the sample you want. Then move the end point to the end of the sample. Its probably just in the middle.

did you move the end point to the actual end of the sample. If thats not it, then make sure you didn't use the slider mode.

Don't know if you've tried this but it sounds like you may have the sample set to "one shot".
Hit "Mode",
Hit "Program" (Pad 7),
Hit the Pad that your Sample is assigned to,
Make sure your Sample title is highlighted and Hit "Window",
Now your are in Layer mode,
"One Shot" means it plays whole sample
"Note On" means it plays till you release pad
Hope that helps!
