Essential items on a budget...

Okay, well I'm saving up for the mpc1000, I'm at about 400 right now, so I'm halfway there.But my main question was what are some ESSENTIAL things I would need. I already have an Omni Studio w/ delta 66 soundcard, and all the software programs out there-cool edit (adobe audition, cubase sx, nuendo, etc.) but I've been hearing about a mixer and monitors. I can see how I would need the monitors, but Im a little confused with if the mixer is essential, remember I'm on an extremely tight budget, I'm a college student, wondering where I'm gonna even get the money for some monitors. Any help is appreciated thanks.

dont worry about what you need yet. first of all, just the 100. learn it front to back then procede getting something to add to it that you know you will need for sure. I had that problem before too. I used to just build build build but then i never payed to much attention into learning the first thing i got. Best thing is to just get the mpc1000. since you already have software, you are ahead of it all. you may not even need a mixer yet. just use cubase sx mixer. Concerning monitors, im using Maudio studiophile which is just as good but dont worry too too too much about what next to get along with it. just learn the machine first and be comfortable to say to yourself that ok i need this particular thing for my next instrument.

Aint nothing wrong in having all now but since you are still in school, just take your time. one step at a time. I just got my mpc1000 today too and i havent even done anything with it. Im just reading the manual before i even connect it.

hey thats just me but you know whats best for you

1. You should be able to plug mpc outs directly into the delta66. So you can do your mixing using the internal card. Delta 66 gives u 4 analog in plus a spdif as well. Heaps of options for recording in.

2. If you want good mixes and nice balance for your sounds monitor speakers are essential. One of the easiest ways to improve your tracks! Check out alesis m1 mk2. Good value.

3. You need a mixer if you want to use condenser mikes or are putting a lot of stuff into your soundcard (i.e. all mpc outs, turntable, mikes). Cheapest mixers are behringer, some say they are crap but alright for a budget. i.e. they do the job.

January is snow month. With the right shovel you'll soon own an MPC1000, monitors, synth, and DAW.
