David Whittle of AKAI had the new color MFC42 connected to an MPC1000 at the AES demo a few months ago. Whether or not you actually want an MFC42 is another matter, though. They aren't very useful. You could get more features per dollar by spending your money on software.
The MFC42 has been selling at clearance prices in the UK. Here in the US the price hasn't been reduced at all. $400 for the filter, mounting hardware, and special cable. The mounting hardware only works with the MPC2000XL. Unfortunately, the special cable is bundled with the mounting hardware, so you have to get your own set of cables elsewhere if you buy the MFC42 alone. The special cable is short. It wouldn't work for a lot of MPC1000 owners anyway because the length is designed for an MFC42 mounted on an MPC2000XL.
