first of all how do i save it on my mpc-1000 as a seq?
its easy. I'll try my very best to explain it to you. i havent used my 1k yet cause of work but i'll be using cubase a lot for it so i'll try and sum it up for u. i use cubase a lot and im most comfortable with it. I use SX ok, here goes.
create a new project....right click, add track then click audio.
1. in audio 01. select stereo or mono (depending on how you are recording into cubase)
2. remember to activate your VST inputs (go to device and select vst input(s), which will least all inputs in your audio audio hardware, like IN1 IN2 IN3 IN4 .e.t.c depending on how many ins your audio soundcard has. so activate the ones you will be using then close it)
3. go back to device menue and open mixer. On the first mixer slide, pull down input pop-up at the top of the channel strip (fader). (thats where you select which audio is going through or into mixer #1 [u can name it too.] BUT if you have 2INS audio card, you can select IN1 for that first mixer channel)
4.Click the record enable button (the red button) next to the fader [by doing so that will be able cubase to read the audio going into that particular channel so you can manualy set your thresh hold, clip level e.t.c).
5. Press play on mpc1000 (meaning you have the output of the mpc going into your soundcard IN1 or directly through a mixer into IN1) You will visibly see the level meter reacting to the audio passing through that channel [you can hear it too.] SO you can raise it, lower it, add effects now or later whicheve one you like. Adjust your volume level as high as possible on the mpc or mixer but monitor the fader on cubase so it wont pass 0.0dB
6. close the mixer for now (you can still hear back your audio dont worry). Make sure the transport panel is visible for you to see and make sure everything is switched off. the click,master,sync, loop, e.t.c all of that is off. Dont worry about tempo, [you can use your beat calculator for that much later.]
7. move the ruler to where you wanna start recording the sound coming out of mpc. hit record on transport panel, you will see the wave dark but dont worry. when you're done, click stop, wait for a sec for cubase to process and calculate the frequency e.t.c (dont worry about thinking oh i want that loop i just recorded on bar 16 or 18 or whatever, you can move it around, edit your audio, loop it, copy and paste it anywhere in the cubase sequencer)
NOTE: lets say you only have 2INS and 2OUTS on your audio card but you want to have all your sounds in different parts [sequence widnow] in cubse, like you want your hi hat to be audio 1, kicks to be audio 2, snare to be audio 3. its simple.
All you need to do is [most preferably get a mixer so you can send your audio individually from mpc into the mixer then record from there. you can even do your voice too with a mixer OR get an audio card with more inputs.]
so lets say you have a 16channel mixer but you only have 2ins on your audio card, dont worry about that. All you need to do is playback all the tracks going into your mixer at the same time then solo the part you only want to record from your mixer into cubase. Then record that solo part into your cubse like I explained above. [right click, add newtrack then click audio. repeat it over and over to get more tracks into your sequencer]Solo your snare in the mixer then record it into cubase. Open another audio in cubase then solo your bass in the mixer then record that part into cubase. And keep building your track. BUT BUT thats only if you have 2ins in your audio card. If you have 4 or 8 then you can have it all at once.
8. So after recording the first one. you can name it, cut it, move it around, add effects, loop it, snap it to every 8th note e.t.c Very important, use your beat calculator found under program. click it and cubase will determine your tempo. easy as ****. (i love cubase for that)
9. So you can have a loop you like on mpc, program it on mpc then dump it into cubase for sequencing and most important MIXING AND MASTERING. cubase will do everything.
BUT IF I WERE YOU. I'll suggest you use MIDI. its so **** easy and less time consuming. it syncs like crasy on cubase. Press recrod on cubase, boom the mpc will start playing and cubase will record it for you. But thats another topic there.

Remember thats just my way of suggesting you record with cubase. Im not saying its the best way. Its just my oppinion and it works, i;ve done it before and it works for me. Dont hesitate to take anymore advice too.
