follow up to - "Cheapest place for a 1000" few ?'s ram etc.

thanks to those who replied in my other thread, I ended up making a best offer to a guy last night on ebay and he accepted today....

Not sure if it's the greatest deal but I'm happy... $750 for the black version, brand new in the box with extended warranty and shipped priority included so I didn't think that was to bad....

any how now I'm on the ram hunt, back aways I copped this ram for my mpc 2500.....installed it and it has worked perfect never a problem....

so I went to check the sticky thread and re-read up on it again and noticed a few people say they have had problems with this ram in the black version 1000...yet some say it worked find in the blue...why would this be?

can someone co-sign a ram upgrade for the black 1000 I'd like to try and order it soon so they get here at the same time, would hate for it to not work but I figured if it worked fine for the 2500 why not the black 1000

any thoughts or links would be appreciated fellas....

i was lucky i had uhm picked up a laptop that uhm no longer was fin'a work the way it should

so after smashin that badboy open i done took out the memory from it and popped it right into my mpc so its like i got free that way but it worked..

i typed up the serial # from the memory and looked it up on google

turned that bad boy on and it came on quick and saw 128mb flash right quick..

so yeah the one you got shoudl work easy

Good look man, well if it was one person I would of thought maybe they just installed it wrong but since I seen a couple people say they had a problem it left me buggin a lil...

well yea I aint got no laptop and since I already copped this ram for my 2500 figured i would order the same one....

which I guess is what i'll do and have to cross my fingers....

also what you think about the JJ OS?? do you think I should learn the 1000's layout before I upgrade or should I get the JJ OS right off the bat and just learn off that from the get go....

any thoughts?

Get the free 3.06 version immediatly, akai os f*cks up your files. Dont forget to format your cf cards, too.

Everything from the old os is still there, everything new is additional, so you dont have to worry about it.

I noticed you said the free version is there a reason why not to get the full paid version, or is there not much of a difference or something just curious. If its really worth it, I'd be down to look into the full paid version at the same time if it's pretty much the same as the free version obviously I would do with out....

By all means get the paid for version if you can spare the 30 bucks. I think the only reason the free version was recommended was under the assumption that after spending 750 bucks you may not want to spend an additional 30.

But by all means, buy it if you can - you won't regret it.

For sure... pay the $30 for the full version... it will be the best 30 bones you've ever spent... and don't forget to format your CF card AND your hard drive (if you have one) AFTER you install the JJ OS>.... that's the only way to fix the AKAI OS file corruption bug...

EDIT... if you have data on your CF card and/or hard drive... make sure to back it up before you format...

thedvs01 - good look, yea I aint stressing the cash so much im just the type that rather buy everything that I'm gonna need or want then sit back and get busy without the worry of "upgrades" for a while....if the JJ OS is something I'll end up needing I'll go ahead and copp it, I just wanted to get a few peoples thought because if it was garbage I would of just saved my 30 bucks...feel me???

Tbonus - yea I always format right off the bat after learning the hard way lol...I was thinking of leaving out the hard drive and just getting ram because I have 100gb HD in my 2500 so I couldnt justify getting another I'll just transfer between them with a 2gb cf card....

JJ OS rox for sure, just thought you wanted to check out your mpc out first without paying anything (first work through the manual to learn all features, then look at the additional feats from jj). But you should definitely not use the akai os at all because of the corrupted files bug, thats it.

^^^^ thanks boss!! yea I have heard alot about the JJ OS and how it sh!ts all over akai's so I mean from what looks like unlimited free updates I think 30 is rather reasonable...

of course I hate dishing our more change right off the bat, but like I said Im looking at it like it's a must not even an option so myte as well just grab it right off the bat...
