effects 2k vs 1k

Hi everybody!
I'm mpc 2kxl owner and now i think of buying EB16 board.. or... selling my 2kxl (with add 8 outs onboard) and buying 1k...
What do You think about it?
I know about missing DELAY effect in 1k.. but.. maybe that's not so important? What about numbers of effects than can work at the same time in both machines? Really 10 in 2kxl and only 2 in 1k ?

Your best bet is to stick with your 2000. The effects board is a must have. In many ways the 2000 is a much more serious pro tool than the 1000.

how do you know that already. The 1000s only been out for a couple months. The 1000 could turn into a big "pro tool"

Looking at what the 1000 offers now and what the 2000XL with effects offers i chose to stay with the 2000Xl and that's why i advised as i did. Not only that, i also took into account the prospect of sticking with what you know versus learning a new machine.

Are you on a 1000 now? If so, how does it rate compared to your experience of the 2000Xl?

Delay is really the easiest effect to simulate with a sequencer. Just put the same sound a little quieter a little later in the sequence (and can be on a different track). This is the method many old skool types used for many years. If you like you can Q-link a little LP filter to soften it a bit more.

In reality, that is exactly what a delay effect is doing anyway (sample, store, playback). This way you have complete control over your own delay. In a way, the MPC1000 does have a delay effect.

I currently own a MPC2KXL, and i am also wondering if i should stick with it, or get into the 1K, mainly for the FX and the improved RAM capacity.
I heard the fx on the EB16 are quite bad, is that true? I checked out the fx on the 1K, and i really like them (especially the bit cruncher), but i dont have any experience with the EB16.
any comments?

I would say try out both, maybe a friends eb16 and another friends 1k and test for yourself. And get/keep the one that best fits your budget and musical needs.. Besides if you have a PC/MAC you can do effects there as well saving money possibly..

I still have got question 'bout number of working effects in that two machines. I studied manuals for both of them and I found that MPC2KXL with EB can play simult. 10 effects 2X(4 + reverb) and they can be "plugged" in many ways (pages 138-142). do I understand good that effect set can be different for different programs? I know about different effect set for DRUMs (1,2,3,4).. but what about programs in DRUMs?
In 1k possibility of assigning effects to pads (not programs) looks good for me
