I have settled on the mpc 1000 to add to my current rig, that being

lexicon omega interface
krk 5's
emu xboard 49

i stumbled on some of vinyl and wish to import some of this into my mpc, where I will chop it up and get a concept going on, then go through my interface into my DAW. does this sound right? should i keep my monitors hooked to my interface?

regarding setup and my purposes...I'd like to not only sample but add some scratching. Will this require a dj mixer if I only use 1 turntable?
If i get a direct drive turntable, will i need a preamp?

thanks!

yes you will need a mixer to scratch, and you won't need a seperate pre amp for the direct drive turntable

your setup should be like this

DD turntable outs ->DJ mixer IN's->DJ Mixer OUT's->MPC 1000 IN's

anything direct drive as far as the turntables go. i rock the technic 1200s (pretty much industy standard) i like vestax and rane mixers. when looking for a mixer make sure it has curve control and decent faders. ide do some research or link up with some one you know thats already on the cut. hope this helps...
