MPC screen goes messed up

hello everyone!

just got a second hand MPC1000 and after a quick check i upgraded to JJ 3.06.

after that i started to experience some wierd problem with the screen. when i hit the pads a few times, the screen went messed up, kind of scrawled or scratched and then suddenly got back into normal and then went wierd again, so i had to reset it to get it clean again.

so, i changed back to 2.10 then, but the problem is still there. i dont know if there is any connection with the OS upgrade (well, i dont think so)

also, i have to wait a few minutes to boot the system, otherwise the screen stays blank and nothing happens.

what else it could be?

any idea?

Can the US to UK voltage adaptor (110Volt, 45W) cause this problem?

you don't need a voltage converter, the on board power supply can cope with both uk and us voltages.

i changed the cable... but the problem still exists

actally i did some further testing, well, sometimes the screen freezes and scrabbles by itself, without touching anything on the MPC. does it absolutely random, sometimes after a minute, sometimes after 10. and sometimes it comes back to normal by itself.

ive NEVER heard of that happening before.

it's possible, but very unlikely, that the cable connecting the screen to the mpc has come loose. if you're ok with opening up the mpc, take a look inside. you'll need to remove the top cover, and the connection to the screen is on the right hand edge of the screen itself.

i opened it, but that cable what u said is fixed to the screen panel, so i found the other end of if after i opened the back of the unit and checked the cable and found out that the problem is somewhere on that panel.
when the screen freeze, i press a corner of this panel and the screen goes back to normal.... well, just for a while...

it looks like a short circuit, isn't it?

it could be a short circuit, but more likely to be a poor connection, pull the plug off the other end, and check all the pins are solidly attached to the motherboard.

there was an IC on that board and one of its pin didn't plug into the socket properly! holy shit that is painful.

well, it is a reboxed unit form akai. great technicians :/

yes, it did. finally it is working now...

thank you for the tips, i was about sendig it back, but opened the backside where the screen cable led.
