midi controller to 1000

ok i just bought a oxygen midi controller to use with the 1000. i hooked a midi cable from the contoller out to the mpc in. i tried everything and it wont turn on. whats goin wrong? thanks

midi just transmits midi messages not audio/sound, and it doesn't power either. USB does however.

So plug your keyboard into the wall socket for power.

Now, I have a similar question...

Once you have your keyboard powered up and midi'd up to the MPC 1000, can you play samples ffrom the MPC chromatically with the midi controller keyboard?

Can you then record these into the sequencer?

Can you set the filters and other parametres to controller nobs and sliders on the keyboard?

I don't own an MPC yet but am trying to figure out whats it's capable of.

I've looked in the manual but it doesn't mention this way of working.

Is it possible?

you need to manually lay out separate multisamples to get a chromatic program, or, if you are using the JJOS, it can sort of do this automatically for you by re-tuning a single sample across the key range. the multi sample is still the best way to do it imho.

It won't turn on because you have no power going to it. MIDI cable's don't transmit power.

Buy a power supply for the keyboard, or use a USB cable and plug it into your computer for a power source.

Electronics need electricity to work.

Actually, many (but not all) midi outputs carry a small 5 volt DC power source.

But that won't run something like the Oxygen, so obviously it isn't designed to use midi as a power source.

i have an oxygen V1 so if thats what you got then do this:


1.load multisample program on a track in the sequence...

2.then left of program name is the word drum, change this to midi..

3. then to right side it says midi off, change this to 1A....

4.if your using an adaptor switch the switch to DC battery or if you are powering from USB from computer switch to USB power..

5.plug midi cable from keyboard midi out on oxygen and not the USB midi plug but the one that says keyboard...

6. the other end of midi cable goes to midi in 1 on back of MPC..

7. plug headphones in to MPC and you can hear the notes from the samples on MPC being played by you on the key board...


if you have a oxygen V2 then i dont know how to do that but im sure they are similar..
