Some help.

Basically i want to start creating a set up at my place. and i'm learning everything so i have no prior knowledge in this. my question is, i want to chop samples from a vinyl into an mpc, what kind of equipment do i need and in what order should i buy them. i'm thinkin turntables, mixer, mpc, midi keyboard. is that right?

Yeah that's the way to go. If you're only using the turntable for sampling purposes you just need one. I'm suggesting that you're talking about dj-mixer.. note that you could go with "normal" mixer, amplifier or sound card with phono inputs aswell, it all depends on what you're going to/aiming to do.

it depends on what you want. you can get by with a regular mixer, a turntable and cables to go from the mixer to the turntable and cables to go from the mixer to the mpc

thats the basic, but you can tweak the setup depending on what you want, if you want a dj mixer, or etc. etc. but basics, a turntable, a mixer (or preamp) and cables

any suggestions on the tables and mixer? just want to be able to chop samples from the vinyl to the mpc..

if you got a low budget and your just starting ill get the portable numark table because you wont need a mixer i dont think..?so you just get the right cables and hook it up to the mp and just start sampling

go to goodwill and get yourself some old belt driven POS turntable if you're not scratching! just make sure it has a tone arm that you can move around, not one of those "set" ones that you have to close the lid etc

i actually sold my TT200. i only need some ancient old belt driven tt.

so if i get just a cheap turntable(numark TT1610 for example) so i can sample, i dont need a mixer?

i don't know that particular model, but it needs some sort of amp or power or some something. i don't understand the physics of it (i'm no tt expert)

i just know i'm gonna get me a couple cheapo belt driven tts so i can mod the fk out of them

put in a way to regulate the speed and bend the hell out of the pitch
pitch it waaaaaaaay down and record it like that, then pitch it up in the MPC to overdrive the pitching algorhythm, let the weirdness start showing in the small details

hm i think i will jsut get a pt01 haha, can any1 recommend a mixer to use with the pt01 and the mpc 1000 also a bunch of studio monitors? peferrably a cheap one =P

Heehee. That really is the problem with this hobby... you'll soon find yourself spending more and more on audio gear, software and stuff related.

But on with the monitor question. My first monitors were Behringer B2031A TRUTHs (now I'm running a pair of genelecs) and I was more than happy with them. I don't know your price range, but those monitors are really good value for your money and I recommend that you'll go with those or similar.

thanks mtc was gonna go with that setup but still dunno which mixer to get or if i even really need one cos im gettin all this stuff within this week hehe
