recording with outs

what are people recording on with there outs.I got a protools mbox whats the best way to record all my stuff.theres only 4 outs plus the stereo out =6 OUTS what if i have more than 6 things to record.How would i go back and record more stuff and still be on beat with every thing else.I REALLY NEED TO KNOW THIS SINCE I FOUND OUT I CANT MIDI TRACK MY BEATS WITH MIDI TIME CLOCK.THE MAIN REASON WHY I GOT THIS MACHINE WAS TO MIDI TRACK ON PROTOOLS SO KNOW I NEED TO USE THE OUTS.PLEASE HELP.

If you have an Mbox, then you're probably running Pro Tools LE which, from what I've heard, doesn't handle MTC very well (apparently LE can lock to MTC but won’t send) so I wouldn't get too worried about the lack of MTC on the 1000 for syncing, MIDI Clock should do the job...bear in mind that you’ll also need a MIDI interface for your PC / Mac if you don’t already have one (the Mbox only deals with audio).

I’m not quite clear on what you mean by MIDI tracking your beats. If you are talking about using the 1000 as a control surface for Pro Tools, I think you'd be better off returning the 1000 and getting the MPD16. It sounds to me more like you want to create beats on the 1000 and record the component sounds into multiple audio tracks in Pro Tools though. If so, you'll have to do it two tracks at a time (the Mbox only has 2 ins).

Edit: Scratch that bit about the MPD16...I don't know for sure if it actually works with Pro Tools.

Just do a search on sync AND protools. Get midi sync working. Then do the following:

1. you just record each track into protools as an individual track.
2.Switch on grid mode in protools and also set tempo same as track.
3. Mbox you have to move every track back 164 samples.
4. Protools has a time shift function for this, so it's no problem
5. If you want to record all 6 outputs at once then you can buy a mixer.

Protools has some of the best audio editing around so it should be no problem. You can even just record the drum beats into PT without sync and align on the grid as loops using the first beat of your drums. In the end its your imagination, not the software or hardware that is the limiting factor.

I tried midi sync with mpc and PT this afternoon, and it works perfectly.

1. Turn on midi beat clock in PT
2. Turn on sync->recieve midi on mpc1000
3. Make sure your midi connections are all good

Should work fine, i could start and stop PT with mpc following, so perfect for dumping in tracks to PT
