I am new to this site so forgive me if this has been posted before. I have an akai MPC 1000, MBox2, Oxygen 8 and I use reason 2.5 as sound modules. Well the truth is that is what I want to do. Here it is, I cannot get the midi to record on the mpc. I have read the instructions and for the life of me I cannot figure out why the mpc does not playback or record the midi data.

I have reason 2.5 I have followed the instructions to the TEE from the manual. I made sure that in the preferrence the Mbox2 is the midi in. I have the drum machine's midi out going into the Mbox2 and the midi out of the oxygen 8 going into the mpc's midi in. Reason is syncing with the drum machine however when I record on the mpc sequencer nothing plays back. It is like the machine is NOT RECORDING THE MIDI.

As track type on the mpc I chose MIDI. I then made sure to place the midi channel on a1 to reflect one of the midi channels that host a sound module in reason. I press play and record on the mpc and play some notes on the oxygen 8 and after the sequence completes the two bars I expect to hear what I just played and NOTHING silch NADA.... Please help and forgive me if this has been posted before. If there is a post explaining this please point me to it.

when you say "drum machine" what are you talking about? redrum in reason?

also i really thought reason did not do midi out.

the setup should be:
oxygen midi out -> mpc midi in
mpc midi out -> MBOX 2
then in your midi prefs in reason you need that setup to use the MBOX midi in.

on the mpc i would suggest not setting a midi channel. if you are setting a channel other than the one your oxygen is set to you are going to have problems. leave it to all or whatever the default is on a new midi track.

also turn pgm: to off or no for the midi track on the mpc.

3.0 allows sequencing of outboard.

but otherwise, you're doing it backwards. do what budddy already said and you should be off to the races.

Ok I was trying to reply to my last post. I got kicked off the connection sorry. Any ways thanks for all the help.

I have Reason as a sound module and recording the notes in to the mpc. That part is good however the timming is off when I record into the mpc. I am not sure what it could be? I am not a liberace however I can play a liitle so I know it's not me. I hear like a stutter when the notes are triggered. I see everyone using the mpc as there master sequencer without any issues. I am planning on buying a MOPHATT sound module and want to get acustomed to using the mpc as a master sequencer.

I have to use the 1/32 quantize in order to record notes that should be recorded using a 1/16 quantze (timming correct.)

Any help is greatly apprecitated.
