mpcstuff.com mpc1000 (skins)

is it just me or are these skins for the mpc 1000 not really pretty and could they be improved much better?.. i would suggest some cleans styles...

i just want the nerdy grey skin with wooden side panels damnit!

wait til you see mine that i am making. my friend works at a sign/graphics shop so as soon as i get around to taking the top plate off of my 1000 and scanning it in, im going to design one and have him print it up.

i dont want to sound like gritzkid (or whatever his name is) but mine is going to be the cleanest 1000 skin of all time.

and yes i totally agree with you about the mpc stuff skinz.

is there demand out there for good looking skins?
i was just making mine as i can't stand the blue/red.

well im a graduated designer so i would know how to make something awesome out of this.. i mean the possibilities are there.. now we just have to pick it up.. i already sent mpc-stuff a mail asking if they are open for any input/idea's/ or maybe hire me as a designer to make some cool stuff..

can you post up a preview image containing your idea? i don't like waiting ;P

i would but i'm not going to actually design it until i scan in the top plate. it will only take me a minute then. i do graphic design for a living.

i can tell you this, you have never seen an mpc like it.
and based on your first post in this thread, you are going to love it!

since im considering making a small run of skins to sell i dont really want a preview image floating around for other sites to bite. i hope you understand.

by the way.. i know there's a top skin in illustrator format.. eps or ai or something..

where you find the vector top skin template? do you have a link?

ive searched and searched but i couldn't find the damn thing.. maybe nym or sparq got it somewhere?

it would be great...because i 've painted the side panels in black...
and i would like to draw my own designs and print them at a "copy top" shop to make a clean custom front interface...

people like u rarely have the skills needed and earned with time and experience..

WORD! (not directed at you bees) but i have to agree. i've been doing graphics design for a living since '97.

we have a girl that works here doing inside sales and she is on her 2nd or 3rd year of a degree (in graphic design) at a major university and definately does not have a working knowledge of photoshop, illustrator, inDesign, etc. no clue about real world stuff that comes up like color modes, embedding profiles, making sure text is converted to outlines, strokes to paths, etc.


oh and mkl if i sell skins they definately would not be $180 or whatever, thats insane. i know what the cost per sq ft is on direct printed vinyl and that $180 is outrageous.

a good start point (big resolution...just have to resize it...and vectorize )

i'd rather just take mine apart and scan it though. then i know that there is absolutely 0 perspective distortion/angle from a camera. most importantly i will know that the size is 100% accurate.

that's really important as the way i am doing mine i won't have to cut all the holes/squares/rectangles out by hand with an exacto.

have you seen the youtube video where mpc stuff explain how to install the sticker? it's really interesting...
every border is larger than the unit so you have to bend the borders of the sticker...

before printing on stickers you have to make a test with paper about proportions...but you can verify proportions with a ruler and photoshop...

The only way to make a proper template would be by measuring.

thats not true at all klaze, all you gotta do is take the top faceplate off and lay it face down on a scanner (that's larger than mine at work ) and scan it in. if you scan at 100% scale and set your resolution to like 200dpi then that is plenty to work from in illustrator.

you can measure for the sides and back/front lip overhang, but the button holes are the most important part the way im doin mine.

i was bored last night so i did up the front from that reference photo in illustrator. im gonna print a test sheet and see how bad the photo is off. it definately isnt 100% straight with no distortion like a scan would be. unfortunately my big scanner at work died a few months ago and all i have is a letter sized scanner at my office right now.

if the holes are pretty on in the one i already did up i will just make adjustments and go from there. but we are workin on music tonight so im not taking it back apart to check them out right now.

hopefully i can get with my boy tomorrow so i can get one done early next week.
