drag and drop sampling...

I've found several drum loops that i want to use on my MPC so i just drag and drop them onto my mpc. Then when i load them and assign them to a pad, they play EXTREMELY fast (faster than they are on my computer), but when i slow them down using the time stretching, they sound horrible. How do i fix this? Sorry if this has been posted before, but i did use the search function....

what is a proper wav file and how do i check to make sure that it is? Sorry i've only had an mpc for about a month...

samples can only be played back by the mpc if they are in 16 bit.
usually you will get drum-loops at 24 bit, so this looks as it`s your problem.
then they play back wrong.
so use a sample-software who can change the bit-rate and try it once more

In my experience the MPC dosen't play 24bit at all! This sounds more like you're wavs have the wrong sample rate! You want to make sure that you bounce you're wavs down at 44.1khz! Sounds like you could be bouncing down at 96Khz in which case the sample will sound very fast and quite high pitched!

you can tune down your sample also in the TRIM mode or PROGRAM mode. I had the same prob with some samples. It's a quick n easy fix.

thanx. can either one of you suggest a free and easy to use program that will accomplish this?

Do u not have any sequencing software i.e Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools??? If not try searching download.com they have an Audio Production section!!! One that i do know of which is for PC only is Audacity! All you got to do is load the sample then export it as a 16 bit 44.1Khz WAV!
