Pad problem with used MPC 1k?

Just recently bought a blue mpc 1k off of Ebay for 590 and am totally psyched on it but whenever i program anything to Pad 2, the sample always ends up being quiet no matter how hard I hit the pad. I've looked at the volume settings under program function and it's at 100 on several different programs. Although, Load function still works.

I emailed the guy that sold it to me and he told me he never had any issues with the pads, do you think he ripped me off? or is there a possible solution to this?
