Memory insufficient when trice to slice

Hi,

I've just started with my first mpc 1000 reading the manual and trying to figure out how things are working. I've loaded a sample (10 secondes) and when I'm trying to slice it up or edit it says "insufficient memory". The sample is in wav format 55 MB. I must be doing something or stupid...Anyone could help me with that?

you need to upgrade your internal memory to the max, which is 128mb.

OR delete all the stock samples, cause who uses that shit anyways? Go make some drums, put em on ur memory card and you are set. Theres no need to upgrade if your just starting out

Read the manual and learn how to stop the autoloading of factory samples so you'll have the max memory to muck around with.

ooops. I went already this morning to my local shop and bought a 128MB card. I'm also going to buy a hard drive this afternoon. Although I'm just starting with the MPC 1000, I've been doing beats on my computer for 2 years. I just want to be done with the setting up of the machine and get done to business. Thanks a lot again for you advices. I'll try to keep it real here in the nordic continent Peace.

55MB sample? That's like 5minutes long, what could you possibly need to slice that long of a sample for?
