IPod > MPC Problems

So I hooked up my Ipod via the headphone jack > 1/4 inch adapter > MPC right channel analog in. I am on the record screen (set to Mono R) and the MPC is getting a signal from the ipod, however the bass is pretty much nonexistant as are some other sounds. Have I missed something? Please help.

get a 1/8" stereo to 1/4" L/R mono splitter and plug in both channels

you probably need a preamp for it to sound better.

the MPC1000 doesn't have a preamp built into it's recording inputs, so some recordings will sound weak without support from a preamp.

I'd try the new cables and turning the ipod volume all the way up.

no you don't need a preamp. You might have lost bass or other sounds cause they were panned to the left channel and you only had the right channel connected. Just get the cord above and it will work. The iPod is at line level, so you don't need a preamp like you would with a turntable.

silly as it may sound check the eq settings in the ipod. maybe the treble boost or bass reduction is on. Just an idea.

I did try all the different presets and that didnt help. That was my first thought too.

Dudes... The sound quality on ipods just plain suck to begin with. Why would you want to sample from an ipod in the first place? Try sampling from a CD player (or other line level signal, not a turn table), I'll bet you won't have the same problem. If that's the case you know it's the ipod itself just plain sucking and not a settings/cable/preamp issue.
