.WAV vs. .wav? Some files wont play...

I have a sound library that i transferred to my mpc and even though the files are in .wav format when I try to listen on the mpc they dont play. The files are not corrupt as they will play fine in windows vista. The files show up in the mpc file browser as .wav . This is the only characteristic that i can see that is different from other working wav files i have on the mpc. The ones that work show up as .WAV (capital letters). What is the problem here? Thanks.

Make sure the files are 16bit, 44.1kHz.

The capitalisation makes no difference. As Btracks says, check the sample and bit rates of the files. They must be mono or stereo 16bit 44.1KHz. If you're on a PC, right click on the .wav file and select properties. Then select Advanced so you can see all the details.

It's also worth noting that on rare occasions, certain types of information in the header portion of the .wav file can render it unreadable by other devices than that which it was intended for, but that's fairly rare.

Definitely is the bit rate as you said. Is there any way to batch convert a bunch of wav files to a different bit rate?

Neither of those programs plays nice with vista. Looks like ill have to wait for a newer version. Drag:-P

Which programs ?

I use Adobe Audition for all my batch audio processing, but there are free alternatives. Try Audacity.

Oh, and by the way, I would heartily recommend getting rid of Vista. At this moment in time, and for the forseeable future, it is not conducive or helpful in any way to musicians. Give it a year or two.

Yeah, my vista upgrade was premature and i wish I hadnt done it. That comment about the 2 programs was meant for the other thread you were helping me out in. I'll repost it there. I'll check out Adobe Audition for the batch processing.

I use the freeware program Goldwave it has batch processing for converting files or whole folders. But don't know if there is a version for Vista - that's the disadvantage by jumping too earlie to a new OS.

EDIT: I just saw on the website it's not freeware "anymore" but you can use the limited version for free, it's more than enough for just converting.

While we are on the topic of wav's guys, does it load WAV's that have loop information?
