The response of the down arrow button on my mpc is sporadic. One minute it will work fine and the next it will be non responsive. This is especially frustrating when in the middle of something. What can i do people?Has anyone else had this problem? :?: :?: :?:

get a switch from vst or mpcstuff. ebay even has switches for cheap.
it just sounds like you got to replace it.

look for another forum topic it should have a link to ebay. $3.00 on ebay for a hundred of them and 8 a piece at the webstores. something like that.

found what to search for
100pc Tact Switch(2pins) 6x3.5mm~Push Button Height 5mm

this is thanks to nym or modnar or one of the other techy guys on the boards. i remember reading it. saved it on my ebay.

I know you only need one, but its the same price as one from the other shops.

auction is over, but apparently that is what you need

or you could just try the compressed air. it's just air its not like you're going to break anything. maybe it's just dirt. my right arrow does the same thing, sometimes it works flawlessly. sometimes it sucks

Thanks guys for all the help. No,i have never opened my mpc before(too scared). But it seems like i will eventually have to, to replace that button.I also saw some gray 1k buttons on VST that match my mpc.Are those the same and/or just as good?

By po'pimpin Fri Aug 03, 2007 7:37 am
yes just be sure the buttons are specificly for the mpc 1000.

i accidently ordered some 2500 buttons once. but if the actual button was broken you would know. it would be falling into the hole. it really does sound like the problem could be the tact switch itself. the thing that is under your down arrow button.

i actually bought another mpc just to take it apart. wooh hoooh.

2 different things:

TACT SWITCH
and
BUTTON

your problem is with the tact switch, which is a .03 cent piece.
