got all my kit now how do I plug it up

I have a MPC 1000 with 128 meg of memory and a XV-2020 sound module and a oxygen 8 keyboard. Now I have midi cables, but I know midi doesn't transmit audio. So how do I plug all of this up? I don't have a clue about midi. The XV-2020 manual is in Japanese, so thats no help. I want to plug all three of my units together and play them. Do I need a mixer for that?

Yes you need a mixer (If you want to record & playback the module)
Once you get that:


Midi Keyboard = Midi out to Midi In (MPC)

Midi Out MPC = Midi IN (Module)

In the mean time, I suggest you download the english manual for your roland and vist this site:

thanks I did do a search and I'm still looking through it right now. I was looking at mixers today, but deceided no to buy one. I guess I will be back in toyko soon.

If you are talking to me, I can add that I am STILL a newbie. But that has nothing to do with what I have wrote in the previous message. IMO, part of the success in making phat beats is also, experimenting with what you have and try to come up with something new. Everytime I get a new equipement, I play with it for hours, and try to test all the possible connections that I can have. I find it to be part of the pleasure. That's all.
