any issue with the MPC or any errors.

What's going on is this.

I dumped the new 1.1 OS to the card, loaded it to the MPC and did not have any issues worked fine. I then added a bunch of samples to the card, used them and worked on some beats.
About a week later (this past Sunday) I tried to view the samples on the card. the files were missing, and in place of the samples were two
re-named files that were in "gibberish" like "D^K*~#". When I tried looking at the card in windows it said it was only 300 KB and not 128mb.

what I did next was format the card and now it can be viewed as 128mb

I tried adding samples to the card and it started to hang on me, I reboot the mpc and now It was unable to respond to the commands (window button shift ect) I reboot again, nothing, so next I pop out the CF card and yay! it works, pop the card in and still, unable to get it to see anything.

I downloaded the new OS 1.2 and tried to load it to the MPC, but the MPC did not see the new OS and would not load it .

Now, this is what I think.
Its the card
or
its the MPC

funny I know, I bet many of you could guess the same. so what I am looking for is this.
Have any of you had the same issue?

I don't have a different card to test this with because my MPC did not come with a CFcard. I purchased a 128 from best buy.

The thing that gets me is this issue is intermittent or at least seems this way.
I did not get it to work yet but it worked last week just fine.

Any Ideas??????

Does the 32 MB card that came with it still work?

If not then it is the MPC...if it does work then it is the card

If the 32 MB works then back up the files from the 32 to you machine then move them to you 128 and try again...

Give it a whirl, but it sounds like the 128 is screwed up...

i had similar problems with a 512 mb sandisk card i bought yesterday from bestbuy as well. it just wasnt happening with that CF. i exchanged it today for a 256MB fuji and everything works fine.

that card wouldnt happen to be a sandisk would it?

it's a shame i couldnt find a 512 fuji card anywhere...

Bliss--

It should have come with a 32MB AKAI CF...if not you got screwed go back to where you bought it and tell them it did not come with and you might get some instore credit or something.

OK, heres the situation,

I took back that san disk card switched for A Fuji 128...
what I THINK is a type II card
(not sure, there is no indication, but looks the same)

I snatched up a reader writer as well. pop the card in the writer and added a few samples, next I pop the card into the MPC1K....

"no memory card" error pops up... WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone buy a CF card that actually works yet?

I plan to go to best buy today with mpc1k in hand and I'm will try out any and all CF cards till I find one that works.

I am going crazy!!!

TgVt,
can you let me know what your card looks like? is there any indication of it being type I or type II?

the one I have says
Fujifilm 128mb compact flash
compatible with all compactflash devices

its blue and green

"A"

As far as I know, the only difference between Type I and Type II CF cards is the width (Type I cards are 3.3mm thick and Type II are 5mm thick). If the card fits into the 1000 properly, it should work...

im thinking the same thing as Insect. the other cf's looked either way too small or much too long to fit into the mpc. so if it fits without sticking out more than a millimeter then yer probably ok, at least size wise

mine says on the card on top in little letters, "FUJIFILM"

then below it it says in big letters with an arrow pointing in the direction that you plug it in "256MB"

then below that it says "CompactFlash". and yeah the card's sticker label is blue and green

the card reader im using just says "6in1" i got it in brooklyn chinatown

edit:

i just looked it up from bestbuy.com, this is the one i got:

well, my run of good luck with the cf is over. now over half the time i load a project i get an "End of File!" error.

i find it strange that no one else ever gets this. does ANYONE ese here ever get this error? anyone know what it might be about? do the cf cards get fragmented or something?

i'll start a new thread about this so im not jacking this one

I think if you dont format your CF card first and start saving samples to it, You fry your card. Or Not , I dont know all i know is that i have a sandisk 128mb CF card and it freezes up all the time, but the manufactured card is fine. SANDISK BLOWS.

from my understanding a type 2 card will require more power from the unit using it than the type 1 card. Type 2 cards are actually mini hard drives while type 1 cards are flash rams. Probably the MPC can't supply the adequate power to type 2cards so they don't work.
just my guess...
