if the card works on a computer then it aint the card, chances are that you`ve bent the pins on the mpc, as we all know u have to be real careful when putting the card into the mpc1000!
chances are two pins are touching, prob end ones,or one bent out and not going into hole on card.
have a look in with a torch WITH POWER TURNED OFF!!!!!
again with P O W E R O F F !!!!! IT IS POSSIBLE TO STRAIGHTEN THEM CAREFULLY WITH VERY THIN LONG NOSED PLYERS OR OTHER SUCH PROBE* don`t mess unless you can see they are bent, but i cannot stress enough *turn power off first or you will take somethin out on the board if you short it , then your well... forked!!!!!!
also be carefull not to snap the pins as they don`t like being twisted too much!
(don`t worry i`m an electrical engineer so have seen these probs on card readers before)
however;
I STRONGLY SUGGEST NOT POKING THE MPC`S CARD READER AT ALL, THIS IS JUST MY SUGESTION AND WHAT I WOULD DO BEING OF ELECTRICAL ASSEMBLY BACKGROUND, I DO NOT CONDONE THIS TO ANYONE AND WOULD HATE SOMEONE TO DAMAGE THEIR MPC ON MY WORDS, AKAI WOULD CERTAINLY NOT SUGGEST THESE ACTIONS.
THINK CAREFULLY, THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
best o luck
