Hihats erasing the snare

Hi

I just got my new mpc1000 a couple of days and have played around with it a bit. But i have stumbled upon a very annoying issue. I just chopped a sample up, and i first layed down the snare, and afterwards the hihats. But when i played it with the hihats the snare was gone at certain points, sounding like the hihats were erasing the snare. I tried to record the snare again over the hihats, but still no difference.

I even have quantizing off, and i definitely think that i should be able to play 2 sounds at the same time. I searched the forum, but no luck, so i hope you guys can help me out.

Hit mode then program.Select params and switch to poly instead of mono
