so... it turns out after all my hard drive installation problems, my actual MPC 1000's motherboard is busted (according to Fleet Sound in Canada) and needs to be replaced (around 450$ with labour). anyone know if you can extend a warranty on an MPC, if it was clearly busted when i bought it?... it's been just over a year that i bought it. anyone have any experience with this or know if the machine could be replaced (i barely used it at all over the past year...just troubleshooted the goddamn hard drive for ever)...
thanks,
Chris.

You should check consumer rights that apply in your country. Usually devices have life expectancy which is not tied to the warranty and eventhough the warranty has expired they still need to repair/replace it free of charge...

call a parts department and ask for that part, then put it in yourself.
i bet you'll save 300 dollars.

any think that akai should pay part or all of my repair for replacing my motherboard? (which was clearly defective when i bought it?) it's just out of warranty by 3 months. the guy from akai said he wouldn't swap it for a new one.
