Just upgraded to an MPC1000 after having used an Alesis MMT-8 as my primary sequencer for a few years. I'm mostly happy with the MPC, but for one problem - when I throw a lot of MIDI at the MPC, it doesn't behave like I think it should...
I've got the "Active track receive channel" set to "All", and the "Soft Thru" set to "OMNI-AB". It appears to work properly at first - I can send notes from Logic on my PC to any bit of my gear, thru the MPC, with no problem. However, when I throw, say, a stream of 16th notes at one piece of gear, a reasonably complex bassline to another, and then try to play a lead synthline on a third synth, the third synth keeps getting stuck notes! This never happened with my Alesis MMT-8.
Furthermore, the easy way out of hung notes, in Logic, is to doubleclick on the top right of the Transport window, which will send "note off" messages to every note on every channel. Surprise surprise, the MPC won't let those through for some reason!!
Anyone have any insight at ALL as to why this is happening?
