Need Step-by-Step Recording Help

Hello everyone. I have Cubase le, with mpc 1000 2.1, and im trying to figure out how to track my beats. Basically, what I want to do is make a beat on the mp, save it as a midi file, open the midi file in cubase, copy and edit it making it into a song, and record the individual tracks from the mpc. Im having a crazy time trying to do this from the mpc. Can some tell me step-by-step on how to make a 4bar sequence from the mpc, into a song using midi, and have the mpc record the audio and recognize all of your midi changes and edits

The first thing is there is a default setup for GM devices http://mpc2000xl.com/pads.htm

Once you set up you device correctly you can track it out (eg track 1 kick, track 2 snare etc) and save as your midi and import it into cubase. You can also assign the direct outs and send the audio out via this method and use a firewire pod or another similar device to get the sound to your cubase.
